They'll eat all kinds of algae, along with any leftover food and vegetation. Unlike the Mystery Apple Snails, the Malaysian Trumpets will not eat your plants, so if your aquarium is active with live plants, these will be the perfect fit.

The Malaysian trumpet snail (MTS) or red-rimmed melania (Melanoides Tuberculata) is generally alternatively praised and cursed by freshwater aquarium enthusiasts. On the one hand, this little snail eat excessive food will devour alga, and keep sand substrates aerated. But they will turn into a plague of biblical proportions, and fully overrun a tank, if the snails are overfed.

There is a lot of lousy rep that snails have received. A lot of hobbyists tend to believe all should be removed immediately and that having any sort of snail in their own aquarium is dreadful. There are even compounds that are completely meant for killing snails in the aquarium. I strongly advise that you just won't use any substance intended to kill snails in a tank with shrimp. Snails are not bad for your own aquarium. Overfeeding your tank is what can cause snail outbreaks. Most snails will really leave your plants alone and instead eat the algae off of glass together with the leaves. Don't believe that a snail is a pest, they may be exceedingly useful in almost any aquarium.

Home

Malaysian trumpet snails will thrive in nearly any size aquarium, as long it's warmed in almost any northern climate. The snails will live with dwarf puffer fish in tanks, as their heavily armored shells and burrowing behaviour keep them safe, and are very hardy. (Some of the more intelligent puffers will determine the way to eat them, which is quite remarkable to observe.)

The Malaysian Trumpet Snail is in fact a benefit to any aquarium for a number of reasons. It'll not eat your plants in any way. It moves around throughout and really burrows in the substrate. You are going to rarely see this snail through the day. Sometimes it's going to appear in the substrate.

Feeding

Malaysian trumpet snails do any special feeding is required by n’t, and will eat any leftover food in the aquarium. They will maintain the aquarium’s glass and plants clean, and will also have considerable amounts of algae.

They tend not to eat plants, aerate substrate, eat detritus, are very cool to look at, incredibly docile, nor harm other inhabitants. This snail is strongly recommended by me to anybody.

Procreation

The Malaysian trumpet snail reproduces and is just like live-bearing fish, for the reason that it gestates eggs internally and after that produces miniature, perfectly formed baby snails. The amount of offspring produced varies on the basis of the size of the snail, but normally 1-64 infants are stored in the brood pouch.

As with all snails, a higher alkaline water equilibrium is preferred, to keep their shells fine and hard. Malaysian Trumpet Snails are generally resting underneath the gravel throughout the day, and through the nighttime, when they're most busy, you will find them digging their way through the substrate, sweeping up any matter and alga that's fell through the cracks.

Malaysian Trumpets are very vulnerable to being eaten, so practice caveat when keeping them, due to their size.
